Dear Parents, Carers and Children,

Please join us for fun family time and fundraising for our school at our Wild West Summer Fete on Friday 28th June, from 5.00pm to 7.00pm!

This year’s rodeo-themed extravaganza will include a rodeo bull competition, a bouncy castle, Wild West themed games and activities, barbeque food and jacket potatoes, a licensed bar, a doughnut and candy stall, princess makeovers, a temporary tattoo parlour, and lots more. The entrance fee will be 50p per adult, with children under 16 free. Spurs and stetsons are welcome but entirely optional!

The PTA have been working hard with staff to come up with ideas and organise the fete, but we would really appreciate your support in the lead-up to our event and also on the day. These are ways that you can help us:

1.         Raffle tickets

We will be sending books of raffle tickets home with children today or tomorrow, and we would be extremely grateful if you could accost friends, family and neighbours to buy them. The top prize is £100 cash, and some of the amazing other prizes include a luxury hamper, Sunday lunch for two at the Kettering Park Hotel, a family pass to Woburn Safari Park, a day pass for a family of four to Butlins, Skegness, and much much more! Please can you return your sold ticket stubbs with money to the office as soon as possible, and any unsold tickets by 26th June.

2        Help with running stalls on the day

A big list of the games and activities stalls will be up on the wall in the school reception area on Friday this week. Some people have already kindly offered to run stalls for us and have put their names down. It would be fantastic if you could lend a hand and run a stall for us. All equipment would be provided and the stall would be set up ready for you, all you would need to do is collect money and supervise people taking part in the games or activities.

 3.         Cake stall

We would be very grateful for any donations of cakes, biscuits or other baked goodies for our cake stall at the fete. Please hand in your donations at the school office on the day of the fete - Friday 28th June.

 4.         Children’s and adults’ tombola donations

We will be running our usual popular tombola and would appreciate any donations of prizes for these stalls. To make sure we don’t have too many of one type of prize, it would be great if families from different classes could donate the following:

Year R - boys’ prizes for children’s tombola

Year 1 - girls’ prizes for children’s tombola

Year 2 - boys’ prizes for children’s tombola

                        Year 3 - girl’s prizes for children’s tombola

Year 4 - prizes for adults’ tombola

Year 5 - prizes for adults’ tombola

Year 6 - prizes for adults’ tombola

 5.         Donations of wine for Wine or water stall

If you have any spare bottles of wine lurking at home we would be glad of them for our Wine or Water stall!

 6.         Gas barbeque

Mrs Pettifer and her merry band of burger-flippers are poised and ready to provide us with barbeque fayre - but we could do with a loan of an additional gas barbeque. If anyone could lend us their gas barbeque for the summer fete it would be well looked after and would be cleaned before being returned to you!

So if you can help us in any of the ways above, we would be very thankful indeed. Anything you can do will contribute to the success of the fete and raise money for our school and its pupils. If you have any questions, please direct them to the office staff and one of us will get back to you. We’re looking forward to spending the time together as a school community at the fete and hope to see you there. In the meantime, please spend any spare minute you have keeping fingers crossed for good weather!

With many thanks and best wishes

 Claire Barber

Hopefully by now you will all have received a letter about film night which is taking place on Monday 10th June straight after school!

Children need to complete their preferences of which film they would like to watch and return the slips to the office by Friday 7th June at the latest.

The films available are:

Cloudy with a chance of meatballs (PG) - Young inventor Flint Lockwood and a brainy weathergirl attempt to discover why the rain in their town has stopped, and food is falling in its place.

Shrek 4 The final chapter (PG) - Rumpelstiltskin tricks a mid-life crisis-burdened Shrek into allowing himself to be erased from existence and cast in a dark alternate timeline where Rumpel rules supreme.

Horton hears a who! (U) - Horton the elephant struggles to protect a microscopic community from his neighbours who refuse to believe it exists.

It should be a great night for the children and we hope you will support the PTA in this fundraising initiative!

A little update on the Smartie tubes; over £400 was raised in total so a huge thank you to everyone who got involved!  I hope the children enjoyed doing chores in return for some pennies!  The money will be spent on books for the children to enjoy in class.
